Planning a Kitchen or Bathroom Remodel in Connecticut: What to Expect

August 12, 2026 WPS Remodeling

Most remodeling stress comes from surprises, and most surprises can be avoided with a clear plan. Here is how we approach a kitchen or bathroom project, and what you can do to make it go smoothly.

Start with how you use the room. Before you look at tile or cabinet samples, think about what frustrates you today: not enough counter space, a tub nobody uses, poor lighting, a door that swings into the walkway. Those answers shape the layout, and the layout drives everything else.

Set a budget range and be honest about it. A clear range lets us suggest materials that fit instead of pricing things you'll never choose. It also helps to decide where you want to spend more, such as countertops or a shower you'll use every day, and where a simpler choice makes sense.

Expect a site visit and a written estimate. We measure, look at what's behind the walls where we can, and put scope, materials and price on paper. Anything that changes the price later, like finding rot behind a tub, should be discussed with you before the work goes ahead.

Order materials early. Cabinets, special tile and fixtures can take weeks to arrive, and a schedule that waits on a single missing part is the most common cause of delays. We plan the order of work so demolition doesn't start until what you need is on the way.

Plan for life during the project. A kitchen remodel means a temporary kitchen, and a bathroom remodel may mean a few days without that bathroom. We protect floors, contain dust and clean up daily, but a little planning on your side makes those weeks much easier.

At the end, we walk the finished room with you and fix anything that isn't right. If you're thinking about a kitchen or bathroom project in the Branford to Waterford area, call (860) 304-6068 for a free estimate.
